Police seek suspect in attempted armed robbery of grocery store customer

POLICE SEEKING INFORMATION ON SUSPECT WHO BRANDISHED FIREARM IN FRY'S PARKING LOT

ORO VALLEY — The Oro Valley Police Department is seeking help from the public to identify and arrest a suspect in an attempted armed robbery in the parking lot of Fry’s Food Store on the 10450 block of North La Canada Drive.

The female victim told police that at about 11:45 a.m. Thursday, a man who was armed with a handgun tried to take her purse in the parking lot, said a statement from the Oro Valley Police Department.

The victim did not give the purse to the armed man, said a police statement.  The fled on foot purse   southeast from the store.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 5 feet, nine inches tall, a slender build, wearing a black puffy jacket, navy beanie hat, jeans and Van style shoes.

The suspect’s jacket and beanie were found a short distance away in a tunnel. The police deployed K-9 units and air assets, but the suspect was not found.
