Adam Marcel Kalini and Amber Dawn Beckman both of La Verne California are in custody for an attack on a Cochise County convenience store clerk on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

At approximately 4:40 a.m., on Saturday, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a badly injured woman was knocking on the door of a Mescal residence. When the homeowner opened the door they found a clerk at the Quik Pic gas station/store in Mescal bleeding badly from the face area.

According to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, the 21-year-old clerk said she was working at the store at about 4:30 when a small SUV pulled into the parking lot. The occupants of the vehicle, Kalini and Beckman, stayed in the car for about five minutes before he came inside the store and tried on a pair of sunglasses before approaching the clerk and brandishing a knife.

The clerk said she was forced to the cash register to open it before Beckman came inside and took all of the money from the register. Kalini allegedly began forcing the clerk towards the back of the store when she was able to struggle free and run out the front door and to a neighboring home to ask for help.

The clerk was transported to a Tucson hospital for knife wounds to the face.

Deputies were able to get a description of the suspects from the recordings at the store and distributed an Attempt to Locate to all local, state, and federal agencies, according to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.

Later on Saturday, the Benson Police Department received calls about a male and female knocking on doors east of Mescal asking for help to change a tire on their vehicle. No one provided assistance to the couple who continued walking toward Benson.

Shortly before noon, a Benson Police Department Officer observed a male and female walking near Cooperative Way south of Interstate 10, and believed that they matched the description of the suspects in the armed robbery from Mescal.

The Benson Police officer stopped the couple and after identifying them. Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Detectives responded to the location and confirmed that the man and woman appeared to be the same people on the store video at the time of the armed robbery.

Kalini and Beckman were booked into the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office Detention facility on charges of Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, and Aggravated Assault.
