Rainbow Valley Man Dead After Attacking Maricopa County Deputies

A Rainbow Valley man, Juan Torres, is dead after he attacked Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies with a wrench and hammer after they responded to a domestic violence call.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, on April 12, at approximately 11:58 p.m.,
deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a domestic disturbance in the area of 209th Avenue and Narramore Road, in Rainbow Valley.

Two deputies made contact with 39-year-old Torres, in the backyard of the residence. It was there that Torres allegedly threw a large wrench and struck one of the deputies. Torres then allegedly approached the deputies with a hammer and both deputies then discharged their service weapons, striking Torres.

Torres was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
