Bernie Sanders likes to describe Democratic Socialism as what Scandinavian countries have but this comparison is false. Scandinavian countries are not socialist. In Scandinavian countries the means of production are primarily owned by private individuals not the government.
While Scandinavian countries provide generous social safety nets (America does too) and universal health care, this represents a generous welfare state not socialism. It can be described as social democracy, where government promotes public welfare via egregious taxation and spending within a capitalist environment. Scandinavia has actually turned away from socialism since the 1970s.
Bernie Sanders democratic socialism is very much like that of the Democratic Socialist of America (DSA), our country’s larges socialist organization and an offshoot of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The DSA recruited thousands of young people during the 2016 presidential campaign of Senator Bernie Sanders. More recently, the surprise election of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the DSA, over a Democratic incumbent gave DSA recruitment another boost. These new recruits may have no idea that they have become part of the international communist movement
A comparison of the DSA platform and the CPUSA platform shows, unsurprisingly, similar goals: abolition of private property, affordable housing for all, universal health care, and open borders . . . in other words, the complete destruction of the United States as we know it.
Ironically, in 2008, the Communist Party USA sued the Democratic Party for stealing the Communist Party platform: “In a surprise move, the CPUSA (Communist Party USA) has announced a lawsuit against the Democratic Party and its leadership for the alleged theft of intellectual property. The plaintiffs claim that the entire so-called ‘new’ Democratic agenda is, in fact, the product of a decades-long, painstaking campaign by CPUSA theorists, agitators, and underground subversive cells – which makes it the intellectual property of the Communist Party USA, protected by American copyright laws. ‘They stole our entire platform, rebranded it ‘progressive’, and claimed it as their own,’ declared a CPUSA spokesperson at a press conference in San Francisco. ‘And we communists say, not so fast! Not in this country anyway, where we still have property rights and the rule of law, thank God! Actually, let me rephrase that . . .” And who was the Democrat’s candidate for president? Barack Obama.
National and international socialists believe in a robust welfare state that keeps the population dependent and subservient to the government. Famous proponents of National Socialism are Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. Hitler was responsible for the murder of over six million people of minority groups such as the Jews, disabled people, Slovakians, gypsies and black people. Benito Mussolini was responsible for over 400,000 killed during World War II. Both dictators enslaved millions of people.

Famous proponents of International Socialism are Vladimir Lenin, Josef Stalin, Mao Zedong, Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Hugo Chavez, and Nicolás Maduro. Lenin is responsible for the deaths of approximately 1.6 million people. Josef Stalin is responsible for the murder of approximately 20 million people, although the estimate ranges from 3 million to over 60 million. According to the authoritative Black Book of Communism an estimated 65 million Chinese died as a result of Mao’s repeated attempts to create a new socialist China. Anyone who got in his way was executed, imprisoned or forced into famine. Fidel Castro has been responsible for an estimated 50,000 deaths. Hugo Chavez murdered at least a 100,000 people. And you can see what Maduro is doing to the people of Venezuela. Each of these socialist dictators enslaved millions of people.
The only way national and international socialism can exist is through a totalitarian oligarchy. Both types of governments are centralized, with internal socialism being more centralized; neither type of socialism tolerates political parties of differing opinion, and both types exercise dictatorial control over virtually all aspects of life. In effect, both types of socialism are authoritarian and autocratic. Both types employ a terroristic police force, secret or not, to eradicate dissent and promote distrust among neighbors, effectively destroying communities.
In October 2009, the Socialist Party of America announced that at least 70 Congressional Democrats were members of its caucus, the DSA. Most of these members belonged to the CPC and the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC). In 2011, the DSA became a strong supporter of the Occupy Wall Street movement. In the Senate, Charles Schumer, Dick Durbin, Sherrod Brown, Richard “Stolen Valor” Blumenthal, Tammy Baldwin, Patrick Leahy, Tim Kaine, Kirsten Gillibrand and Tom Udall have all accepted support from radical left groups affiliated with the DSA, CPUSA or related groups.
In 2017, the DSA described itself as “the principal U.S affiliate of the Socialist International.” The Communist Party USA leader, John Bachtell, boasted in a column that his Marxist-Leninist organization utilizes the increasingly radical Democratic Party to advance its objectives in the United States. The DSA has a youth section known as Young Democratic Socialists (YDS), composed of high school, college and working young people.
America is the greatest country in the history of civilization. It holds this position primarily because of our Constitution and the shared values of its citizens. The ideals of the DSA and the CPUSA are in direct opposition to traditional American values. The DSA and similar groups must be opposed and blocked at every turn. Elected officials supporting their perverted and outdated ideals must be turned out of office. Rational, patriotic, God-fearing Democrats, if they exist, must take back control of their party. These actions must be taken before any more damage can be done to America.
