Phoenix Man Caught Trying To Smuggle $50K Worth of Marijuana

On Sunday, a 43-year-old Phoenix man was arrested by Customs and Border Protection officers at the Raul Hector Castro Port of Entry in Douglas after he tried to smuggle more than 100 pounds of marijuana into the United States.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers referred the man for further inspection of his Chevy compact car after he attempted to enter the U.S. through the Port of Douglas early Sunday morning. Officers searched the vehicle and found 90 packages of marijuana throughout the vehicle.”

CBP estimates the drugs, weighing nearly 101 pounds, to be worth nearly $50,000.

Officers seized the drugs and vehicle. The subject was arrested and charged for narcotics smuggling.
