Mexican National Nabbed For Marijuana Smuggling Attempt At Naco

Tucson – A Mexican National was prevented from smuggling more than 72 pounds of marijuana into the United States, June 3, by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Naco.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), “officers referred the 36-year-old man for secondary inspection of his Chrysler sedan on Monday afternoon. When officers searched the vehicle, they discovered several large packages of marijuana with a weight of more than 72 pounds, hidden within the vehicle’s back seat. The drugs have a street value worth more than $36,000. Seventy-two pounds of smuggled marijuana was found hidden within a vehicle’s back seat at the Port of Naco. The drugs have a street value worth more than $36,000.”

Officers seized the drugs and vehicle. The man was arrested and charged for narcotics smuggling. He was then turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
