13-Year-Old Who Shot At Glendale Officers Wanted To “Murder A Police Officer”

Two juveniles are in custody after shooting at Glendale Police Department officer earlier this week.

On Monday, just before midnight, Glendale Police officers were investigating a burglary call when they heard gunshots directed towards them. Officers took cover behind vehicles for protection, not knowing where the shots were being fired from. In the body worn camera footage the gunfire can be heard “whizzing” by the officers.< The ShotSpotter technology used by the Department was able to pinpoint the location where the shots originated. Officers responded to the area and located a security camera which captured the incident. The video showed the two juveniles firing at the officers.< Detectives executed a search warrant and were able to apprehend the two juveniles and the weapon used. The juveniles were brought to the main station where they were questioned and confessed to the shooting. The 13-year-old fired one shot directed at the officers and admitted he wanted to "murder a police officer." That juvenile can be seen firing the gun in the video and then handing it off to the older boy who was recording the incident on his phone, before firing the handgun in the direction of the officers. Both juveniles were booked on several felony counts.< The 13-year-old was booked on aggravated assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm and attempted murder while the 14-year-old was booked on aggravated assault and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
