Phoenix Police detectives are investigating the death of man shot in a backyard of a west Phoenix home.
Officers responded to a shooting call at a house in a neighborhood near 71st Avenue and Indian School Road around 10:15 this morning. When they arrived, the residents of the home told officers a man, who attended the birthday party at their house the night prior, was found shot in their backyard.
The fire department responded and rushed the man to the hospital. The man later died at the hospital from his injuries.
Officers secured the scene and spoke to witnesses who told them a possible suspect left the area before police were called.
Detectives from the Homicide Unit responded to process the crime scene and interview witnesses.
Currently, there are no suspects in custody. The victim’s identity is pending a next of kin notification.
