As of Wednesday at 7:57 p.m., Kari Lake has the lead in Arizona’s hotly contested Republican primary. Lake and Karrin Taylor Robson are separated by a little over 12,000 votes.
Arizona’s Republican primary became a battleground in the proxy war between former President Donald Trump, who endorsed Lake and former Vice President Mike Pence, who endorsed Taylor Robson.
Lake is seen as the “grassroots” candidate, while Taylor Robson is seen as the “establishment” candidate.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Maricopa County Elections Department reported that the remaining Maricopa County ballots include:
- Estimated early ballots left to process and tabulate: 92,300
- Estimated provisional ballots left to research: 1,151
- Estimated number of early ballots left to verify: 54,000
