Florence male faces felony charges for drive-by shooting in Walmart parking lot

POLICE SAY THE SUSPECT CONFESSED TO SHOOTING, VICTIM SURVIVED MULTIPLE GUNSHOTS

QUEEN CREEK — Jeremy Ray Ford, 27, of Florence, was arrested  Thursday by Maricopa County sheriff’s detectives for allegedly committing a drive-by shooting in the parking lot of the Walmart store in Queen Creek.

An unidentified victim was shot multiple times at about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies rendered first aid before the victim was transported to Chandler Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries, said a   release from the sheriff’s office. The victim’s condition has been upgraded to stable.

Detectives quickly obtained video surveillance footage from Walmart which captured the shooting incident. A description of the suspect’s vehicle was obtained, along with other physical evidence from the scene.

Ford was connected to the crime scene, in the southeast Phoenix suburb, due to evidence obtained by detectives, the release said.
He confessed to shooting the victim in an interview with detectives and directed them where to find the handgun used in the incident, the sheriff’s release said.

Ford was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail and charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault and one count of felony drive-by shooting.
