
It is happening across the state – copper theft. It is costing taxpayers and small and big businesses fortunes.
Take the case of Yavapai County, from late December 2024 to February 2025, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating reports of large amounts of copper stolen.
In one case, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, suspect(s) breached a commercial site and stole a significant quantity of the metal. In another instance, the suspect(s) trespassed on a mine site, stole hundreds of pounds of copper wire, and left behind considerable damage, resulting in losses of 25,000 to 30,000 dollars.
