Laura Michelle Owens, age 34, sought child support from Scottsdale's Clayton Echard, the star of The Bachelor. He denied ever having sex with her, and Owens dropped a paternity case against him months later.

Laura Michelle Owens has been hit with felony charges for allegedly lying about being impregnated by a former star of The Bachelor.

In July of last year, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office began to investigate Laura Owens at the request of a Superior Court Judge. This came after the defendant made several inconsistent statements during a paternity hearing involving a former contestant on the television program, “The Bachelor,” Clayton Echard. Owens originally filed a lawsuit seeking child support from Echard, then dropped her claim, alleging she’d had a miscarriage.

MCAO investigators found that between May 2023 and June 2024, Owens altered an ultrasound image, fabricated a pregnancy video, and lied multiple times under oath.

A grand jury has indicted Owens on the following:

  • One count of Fraudulent Schemes and Artifices, a Class Two Felony
  • One count of Forgery, a Class Four Felony
  • Four counts of Perjury, a Class Four Felony
  • One count of Tampering with Physical Evidence, a Class Six Felony.

  1. I would like to see ruthless prosecution and national media coverage.

  2. ” … interesting ‘mothers day article’”
Especially since the subject of the article, Laura Owens, is apparently not a mother. Of children, that is.
