Democratic Rep. Yassamin Ansari attacked the late Charlie Kirk in response to congressional attempts to honor his legacy.
The freshman congresswoman accused the slain Kirk of being “racist, xenophobic, homophobic, and misogynistic,” and a man who stood “directly counter to the values of equality and justice.” It was Kirk’s beliefs as a Christian that inspired the ire of Ansari and others on the left — in life and, now, in death.
Ansari launched the attack against Kirk in response to Republican Rep. Abe Hamadeh’s proposal to put Kirk’s image on a new currency.
“Republicans should stop with the theatrics and govern,” posted Ansari on X. “I’ll be voting no.”
Charlie Kirk's racist, xenophobic, homophobic, and misogynistic rhetoric ran directly counter to the values of equality and justice I fight for every day.

Hamadeh introduced a bill on Friday to place Kirk’s likeness on 400,000 silver dollar coins in 2026 with an engraving of the Bible verse, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” This is a quote from Jesus Christ in Matthew 25 telling the parable of the talents.
“I said it before and I will say it again; Charlie Kirk was an American treasure, so it only makes sense to create a treasured commemorative coin in his honor,” said Hamadeh in a press release announcing the legislation. “My hope is that when this coin is passed down through generations of patriots, Charlie’s story is retold. A story of a young man who displayed courageous faith in his Creator, a willingness to engage in open debate without rancor or invective, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and the greatest country on Earth.”
Kirk founded and led Turning Point USA (TPUSA), an organization formed in 2012 to “identify, educate, train, and organize students” for the advancement of American values, namely “freedom, free markets, and limited government.” TPUSA is headquartered in Phoenix.
Less than a week before these latest remarks, Ansari voted in favor of the House resolution to honor Kirk’s life and legacy.
The official campaign account for Hamadeh accused Ansari of pretending to be a moderate Democrat while working to mobilize the extremists.
“She is trying to appear moderate while signaling her true intentions to her radical base,” said Hamadeh’s campaign. “What Ansari is doing is not only hypocritical, it is reprehensible.”
Last week, Yasmin Ansari voted yes on H.Res.719 – Honoring the life and legacy of Charles "Charlie" James Kirk.
Now, she is slandering him in response to Congressman Hamadeh’s bill issuing a commemorative coin in his honor.

In the hours following Kirk’s assassination and the shooting at Evergreen High School in Colorado, Ansari linked the two incidents as a result of firearms.
Both perpetrators were political radicals seeking to eliminate their opposition. The two happened to carry out their crimes using firearms. Past radicals have relied on other weapons; several weeks before Kirk’s assassination, Decarlos Brown used a knife to carry out his racially motivated slaying of a white woman, Iryna Zarutska, on public transit.
Tyler Robinson, Kirk’s assassin, sought to eliminate Kirk on the basis of his Christian, conservative beliefs, based on information shared in interviews with Robinson’s family and text messages between Robinson and his partner. Robinson’s partner was a male who identified as a transgender female and furry. Kirk was conducting one of his famous debates at Utah Valley University when Robinson shot and killed him from an unsecured rooftop several hundred yards away.
Desmond Holly, the individual who committed the Colorado school shooting, was radicalized by a yet-undisclosed “extremist network.” The ADL issued a report linking his now-deleted social media activity with white supremacism. In this shooting, the only fatality was Holly. Two students were critically injured in the shooting, however. One of the students injured, an unidentified 14-year-old male student, confronted the shooter alongside his friend in an effort to save the school. As of Friday, this student remains in the hospital.
