A fugitive who skipped bail on child pornography charges and fled the country for more than four years has been located, arrested, and brought back to Phoenix to face the charges he tried to elude.
Detectives from the Phoenix Police Department initially arrested Glenn Bales, 51, in Nov. of 2018 on 10 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, a Class 2 Felony.
Bales bonded out of jail the following April and was issued an electronic ankle monitor. But in 2020, Bales violated the terms of his release, ditched his ankle monitor and fled the state. A warrant was issued for his arrest and the FBI Phoenix/Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Task Force opened up a federal fugitive investigation to help find Bales. The Fugitive Task Force is made up of agents from the FBI, deputies from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, detectives from the Phoenix Police Department and agents from the U.S. Border Patrol.
Investigators got their break last month when they received information that Bales was hiding out in Mexico and living and working under the alias of Jacob Spade. The Fugitive Task Force located Spade and positively identified him as Bales, who was then arrested in Mexico on his U.S. warrant. The task force immediately facilitated Bales’ deportation back to U.S. custody.
Following his arrest in December, Bales was processed by Mexican immigration officials and flown to Los Angeles accompanied by the FBI and Mexican immigration agents.
On Monday, January 6, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputies flew Bales from Los Angeles back to Phoenix where he was arrested and immediately transported by Fugitive Task Force members to jail.
On Tuesday, the court order Bales held on a $1 million cash only bond.
How about a blanket policy of NO BOND releases for “chomos”?
