Mexican Man Charged with Possession of Child Pornography after Crossing Border

A Mexican man, Alan Xavier Cabrera, was arrested on April 25, 2025, and charged by criminal complaint for Possession of Child Pornography.

According to the Department of Justice’s complaint, on April 25, 2025, the 27-year-old Cabrera applied for entry into the United States at the port of entry in San Luis, Arizona with a B1/B2 travel visa. Based on Cabrera’s behavior, agents examined his cell phone and identified numerous images of child pornography, also known as Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). The material included images and videos that appeared to depict minors under the age of ten years old engaged in sexual acts on adult males.

A conviction for Possession of Child Pornography carries a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both, and a term of supervised release up to life.

    I’m wondering what kind of behavior would trigger suspicion? Was he stumbling around sniffing children or something?
