Grijalva Could Face Challenger

Democrat Party leaders told Congressman Raul Grijalva last year that they were going to support him only for one more run, now it looks as if that final run could be a tough one. On January 20, James Villarreal filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to form an exploratory committee.

Villarreal, an engineer at Raytheon, was a 2012 recipient of Tucson’s 40 Under 40 Award “which recognizes young leaders who made an impact in the community with their professional and charitable work.”

Villarreal notes in his LinkedIn profile that his “core brand and identity, which appear frequently in my performance reviews, are accountability, character and initiative.”

According to sources, if they were to issue performance reviews of Grijalva, many fellow democrats would find that the congressman has abused his power. While the congressman has earned a reputation as a staunch advocate for environmental groups, he has also disappointed fellow democrats for his failure to work for the Party. However, Grijalva was the first congressional member to endorse Senator Bernie Sanders.

Villarreal received his PhD in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, and his Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from Arizona State University, according to his LinkedIn profile.
