Phoenix Man Dies In Yavapai County Crash

On April 1, 2017, around 8:20 p.m. Yavapai County Rescue was called to a crash on Forest Road 192, near the junction of Forest Road 711, about 8 miles south of Crown King. Deputies learned that a Jeep Grand Cherokee went off the road at the top of a switchback and rolled more than 500 feet down the side of a hill before coming to rest.

The vehicle contained 2 occupants at the time of the crash. One of the occupants, 29-year-old Daniel Arroyo from Phoenix, was ejected and died at the scene. The other occupant, a 47-year-old man, was found inside the vehicle and once rescued, transported by DPS Ranger to a Phoenix hospital. He is expected to survive. The rescue and recovery effort was extremely difficult for EMS officials due to the steep and rugged terrain.
