Agents Arrest Smugglers, Seize Backpacks Full Of Meth

TUCSON – On Wednesday, U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended three smugglers and seized approximately $170,000 worth of meth in a remote area of the Tohono O’odham Indian Reservation.

Border Patrol agents working east of Lukeville with the assistance of CBP Air and Marine Operations tracked a group of smugglers for several hours in the Mesquite Mountains.

Agents finally apprehended the three Mexican nationals and seized five backpacks filled with meth.

The suspected smugglers and drugs have been turned over to ICE Homeland Security Investigations, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
