Golf Cart Driver Arrested On DUI After Passenger Taken To Hospital With Life-Threatening Injuries

An Iowa man, Aric Joseph Myers, was taken into custody after a passenger in a golf cart he was driving sustained life-threatening injuries.

According to the Sahuarita Police Department, on September 10, 2021, at about 6:00 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of East Old Stone House Trail reference to a single-vehicle accident involving a golf cart.

When officers arrive they learned that five men were riding on a two-seater golf cart. A witness told officers that the golf cart driver, the 29-year-old Myers of Waukee, Iowa, made an abrupt movement, causing one of the passengers to fall off the golf cart.

The passenger who fell from the golf cart sustained life-threatening injuries, and he was transported to a local Tucson hospital by ambulance.

Officers contacted the remaining four occupants of the golf cart, including Myers, who showed signs of impairment, and he was placed under arrest for DUI by officers on scene.

Myers was booked into the Pima County Jail for one count of Driving Under the Influence, Aggravated Assault, Endangerment, and Reckless Driving.
