Pinal County Supervisors Appoint Dana Lewis To Replace Recorder Virginia Ross

As expected, after brief backroom wrangling, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors named Assistant Recorder Dana Lewis as the replacement for Recorder Virginia Ross.

The five-member board unanimously approved Lewis for the position.

Ross resigned on Thursday to take over as the director of the Elections Department in the wake of the firing of of former director David Frisk.

Frisk was terminated this week due to the disastrous disenfranchisement of untold number of voters in Tuesday’s Primary Election when polling centers ran out of ballots and voters were sent away.

Prior to Election Day, Pinal County became the focus of lawsuits after the Elections Department sent about 63,000 voters in seven municipalities an incorrect early ballot in the mail.

On Tuesday, relying on a formula provided by Secretary of State Katie Hobbs’ office, the Elections Department failed to have enough ballots on hand at multiple locations for voters. As a result, voters were turned away.
