Phoenix Police are investigating a shooting that occurred near 23rd Avenue and Danbury Road. An adult male attempted to enter a home and the female homeowner fired a weapon at the male.
On Sunday night, just after 10:00 p.m. on September 18, 2022, Phoenix police were called to the area of 23rd Avenue and Danbury Road for a residential burglary. Officers arrived and found one adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening-injuries. The man was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The homeowner who fired the weapon was identified as an adult female and she was interviewed by police. The female provided a self-defense claim. She was eventually released.
The case will be submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review once the investigation has been completed.
