On August 14, the Payson Unified School District began an investigation into one of their employees, Miles Huff, based on the tip. The district subsequently notified a Payson Police Department School Resource Officer about an allegation against Huff, regarding inappropriate conduct with the former student.
A criminal investigation began and Payson Police Department detectives conducted numerous interviews with witnesses and victims. Detectives developed probable cause to arrest Huff for several counts of sexual contact with a minor.
On August 29, Huff was taken into custody by Payson Police Department personnel. He was booked into the Gila County jail.
