Man Sentenced To 7 Years In Prison For Attempted Child Sex Trafficking

A Maricopa County Superior Court judge has sentenced Adan Ivan Munoz Espinoza to 7 years in prison as a result of an undercover sting operation by the Phoenix Police Department.

Last month, a jury found Espinoza guilty of one count of child sex trafficking.

In January of this year, the Department began an undercover investigation in which a detective went online posing as a 16-year-old girl. Espinoza invited the “girl” to engage in sex with him and offered $80 for the act. He even made arrangements to meet the “child” at a nearby store.

At the time of the arrest, Espinoza had with him the cell phone he used to contact the undercover detective posing as the girl.

Upon release, Espinoza will be required to register as a sex offender.
