PHOENIX – On Thursday, Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes announced his tumultuous tenure was coming to an end when he conceded the race to Republican opponent Stephen Richer.
I’ve called @Richer4Recorder to congratulate him, and will be welcoming Maricopa’s 30th Recorder with a personal tour of our facilities next week.#ProtectDemocracy

The erratic Fontes was elected to the Maricopa County Recorder position in 2016. In his four-year term, Fontes became a reliable source for controversy.
Earlier this month, the Arizona Supreme Court admonished Fontes in what was described as “one most scathing rebukes of a public official in years. The Court found Fontes “acted unlawfully” when he issued an instruction to voters that was at odds with the state’s official elections manual.” [See related article: Arizona Supreme Court Issues Rebuke Against Maricopa County Recorder Fontes]
