On March 24, Pima County Sheriff’s deputies came upon a rollover accident in the wash in the vicinity of Tanque Verde Road and Grant Road. Authorities have determined that a tractor trailer truck, which was involved in a project to reinforce the walls of the wash in this area, had come too close to the edge of an access road.
The truck was driving southbound on the eastern shoulder of the wash. The vehicle then slid off the edge of the access road, causing it to roll over. The driver and sole occupant of the truck, 44-year-old Dan Murphy, was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation.
