Phoenix Convention Center among top 10 in nation

The Phoenix Convention Center is one of the 10 top convention centers in the nation, according to Business Review USA. Phoenix ranks number 7, ahead of Anaheim, San Francisco and San Diego.

In 2009 the city of Phoenix completed a convention center expansion that tripled its size to allow Phoenix to accommodate more than 80 percent of the conventions in the U.S. Business Review USA highlights the versatility of the Phoenix Convention Center, noting it has hosted everything from national and regional conventions to consumer events and theatrical productions.

“When voters gave their approval to expand our convention center, our goal was to design the facility and offer the quality of customer service that would rank Phoenix among the premier convention facilities in the nation,” said Vice Mayor Michael Johnson, who represents District 8, which includes downtown Phoenix. “So being ranked in the top 10 now is a tribute to the vision of our residents and to the hard work of all those who manage and host events at the Phoenix Convention Center.”

Since its expansion, the Phoenix Convention Center has hosted many local events and large galas including this year’s Arizona Centennial Celebration – Fandango. In partnership with the Greater Phoenix Convention & Visitors Bureau and downtown hotels, Phoenix also has hosted large-scale conventions such as the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting and Exhibits, the VFW Annual National Convention, and the U.S. Green Building Council Annual Conference and Expo. A strong economic engine for the city of Phoenix and the State of Arizona, the Phoenix Convention Center also continues to attract major events like Major League Baseball’s All-Star FanFest and the NBA All-Star Jam Session.

“We are fortunate to be the center of the renaissance of downtown Phoenix and to have one of the most impressive facilities in the country. We consistently focus on providing superior customer service and maximizing the beautiful amenities we have to offer,” said Debbie Cotton, director, Phoenix Convention Center & Venues. “The Phoenix Convention Center is proud to hold its place among the top 10 convention centers in the U.S. and looks forward to continuing that success by providing top-notch event management and maintaining state-of-the-art venues.”
