Landfill search for Jhessye ends

The search operation for the remains of Jhessye Shockley at the Butterfield Landfill has ended. Glendale Police say they remain determined to bring justice for 5 year old Jhessye Shockley.

The landfill search for the missing Glendale girl’s remains began in February. About 200 workers searched the Butterfield Station Landfill in Mobile the body of Jhessye.

Jhessye was reported missing by her mother in October. The landfill search began after evidence indicated that Jhessye’s mother, Jerice Hunter, may have abused Jhessye and disposed in a Tempe trash bin.

Prosecutors may pursue a murder case without the girl’s body.
