Teamsters choose Sinema for Congress

On Thursday, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, announced its endorsement of Kyrsten Sinema in her race for Congress in Arizona’s District Nine. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents working Americans in 21 different industries. They advocate for improving working standards and the right to a fair, healthful workplace. They join the United Steelworkers, UFCW and the AFL-CIO as the organizations that stand with Sinema because of her long-standing dedication to working families.

“Sinema has demonstrated unwavering support for everyday people who worry about how they will care for their families. Our nation’s disappearing middle class cannot afford to wait for a Congress that chooses partisan ideology over commonsense solutions,” said Andy Marshall, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 104. “We need a strong voice in Washington who will stand up to wealthy special interests and put Americans back to work.”

“I’m tremendously honored to have the support of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters,” said Sinema. “Their work in organizing and educating workers to achieve a higher standard of living is an important part of rebuilding our nation’s middle class.”

In Sinema’s view, Congress gets an “F” for so completely failing to get the job done for the American people—especially on the jobs and deficit front. “That is what prompted me to run for office, to be the voice of the forgotten middle and working class. The rich and powerful have a voice – trust me, I get badgered by their lobbyists all the time and I’m good at saying ‘no.’ It’s the rest of us who are now not getting heard because of the special interests. There are three words that I vow to never forget: We the People.”
