Carroll rants at radio host after yard sign “rant”

Popular Tucson radio host James T. Harris fearlessly entered the fray in the Pima County Board of Supervisors District 4 race. Harris invited candidate Sean Collins to appear on his 104.1 FM, The Truth radio show to discuss Carroll’s smear campaign.

The 15 year incumbent, Carroll, has poured thousands of dollars into radio ads to try desperately to maintain his power by smearing his opponent.

According to a Facebook posting by Harris, “After my interview with Mr. Collins guess who called into the show to challenge my yard sigh rant? That’s right, Supervisor Ray Carroll!!!! I s@#% you NOT! and HE WAS PISSED.”

With the District 4 Supervisor race being a very heated primary, Sean Collins had much to say about his opponent who has been the Supervisor for over 15 years and what he would do differently if elected. He discussed the need to eliminate impact fees and give a tax break to businesses across the board. He also said he wanted to make the new business development process easier, with an advocate at the County that helps to get their doors open faster. Collins even referenced the recent U of A study which shows that Maricopa County has added 69,000 jobs since 2010 while Pima County has only added 899.(LISTEN HERE)

When asked about his ideas, Collins said, “There was so much more I wish I had time to cover. For instance, the fact we pay the highest property taxes and can’t get our roads fixed. If elected, I will fight to get the roads fixed with the money that has been allotted for them and not be complacent with the monies being shuffled to County pet projects. I will hold town hall meetings to keep constituents informed and I certainly won’t cower in the corner claiming I am ineffective in the minority. I believe an elected official should be effective in informing the community about what is really happening with their tax dollars, and that just hasn’t happened for the past 15 years.”

Collins went on to say, “we can’t expect Pima County to thrive if we continue to say no to business. We need to get people back to work and by working with various Chambers of Commerce and other successful counties in the State, we can eliminate the hostile business climate that Pima County is known for”.

One listener noted to Harris, “wish you had that interview with Sean last week. Sent out my early ballot Tuesday with a vote for Ray, would like to take that back.”

Sean Collins is running against a 15 year incumbent in the District 4 Supervisor race. With no Democrats running, this race is decided on Election Day, Tuesday, August 28th.
