Barber deemed safe by DCCC

Roll Call reported this week that the DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee), the official campaign arm of the Democrats in the House, has determined that Congressman Ron Barber has a lock on his race. Therefore, they are pulling ad reservations for three congressional races, including Arizona’s CD2.

They have determined that they are saving their money for close congressional races and McSally isn’t even close. To which one republican responded, “It’s funny how careful they are with their own money, wish they were as careful with the taxpayers’ money.”

The Committee “is confident” that Barber is likely to win without their help. According to the Yellow Sheet, anonymous DCCC sources told the DC political paper that the committee was canceling its weeklong $85,000 buy that would have started October 18 because Barber is safe.

McSally, who is relatively new to the Tucson area, has struggled to gain grassroots support. Much of her time, since arriving in Arizona from Germany shortly after the retirement of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords last January, has been spent in D.C. on fundraising efforts.

“McSally will be a great candidate some day,” said one republican insider, “She just needs to learn about Arizona, and get to know us, and give us a chance to get to know her. She’ll be back in few years, just watch.”
