Assistant House Minority Leader Ruben Gallego, D-Phoenix (District 27), released a statement in support prior to Senator Marco Rubio’s (R-Fla.) response to the president’s State of the Union address.
“I applaud Sen. Rubio’s efforts and the efforts of the Group of 8 Senators for their bipartisan work to develop comprehensive immigration reform. The American people continue to demand an immigration system that works, one in which everyone plays by the same rules.
“We must encourage the elected leaders in Washington to find ways to secure the country’s borders, hold employers accountable for hiring undocumented workers, restructure legal immigration processes, and provide a reliable pathway for immigrants to earn citizenship.
“I strongly support the bipartisan efforts to make these changes.”
