Recently, the Tucson Police Department Human Resources Division participated in the Military Times “Best for Vets” law enforcement employer review for 2014.The Tucson Police Department is proud to announce that the Tucson Police Department was selected as a “Top Finisher” in their review and analysis of law enforcement agencies that best support military veterans. Officer Heather Jones from Operations Division West was featured in the cover photo for the story, and Tucson Police Department programs were highlighted in the article.
In the Military Times, Lt. JT Turner of the Tucson Police Department said that “the maturity, the levels of responsibility and the experience” that vets have can make them valuable assets.
Military Times evaluated law enforcement agencies on several factors, such as their efforts to recruit veterans, veteran preference points during hiring, total numbers of veterans on the department, and the generosity of pay and benefits provided to deployed reservists. The Tucson Police Department, along with only six other agencies, was recognized as a “Top Finisher” among the 19 departments profiled by Military Times. The Tucson Police Department is proud that nearly 31% of their members are veterans.
