Metcalf named to Pima County Superior Court

Douglas Metcalf has been appointed to the Pima County Superior Court. His appointment was made to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Howard Hantman.

Metcalf has been a partner with the law firm of Lewis and Roca since 2000.

Before joining Lewis and Roca, Mr. Metcalf worked for Brown & Bain as a partner (2000-02) and an associate (1996-2000); a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice (1990-1996), where he exclusively practiced federal criminal law, including grand jury and trial work; and a law clerk for the U.S. Tax Court (1987-1990).

Mr. Metcalf is active in several law and community organizations. He served the Tucson Federal Bar Association as President (2009-10); Vice President (2008-09); Treasurer (2007-08) and Secretary (2005-06) and has been a Ninth Circuit Lawyer Representative since 2010. He also has served on the City of Tucson Planning Commission (2001-05) and Blue Ribbon Commission on Charter Reform (2001-02); was Arizona Town Hall Recorder (2000); Greater Tucson Leadership Participant (2000) and Little League coach (2006-07).

Metcalf has represented various entities pro bono, including Ronald McDonald House, Tucson Jewish Community Center, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale, Literacy Volunteers and Literacy Connects, and Pima County Human Rights Committee on the Mentally Ill.

Metcalf received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Iowa (1985), graduated from Drake University Law School (1987) and earned a Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University (1991).
