Arizona’s counties continue to tabulate ballots from the 2014 Primary Election. Over 40,000 ballots remain left to be counted, including early and provisional ballots.
State law gives the counties five business days, until the end of Wednesday, September 3, to verify and process the remaining early and provisional ballots.
Election results are unofficial until the Canvass. A state canvass to certify official election results for federal, statewide and legislative races is scheduled for September 8.
With the addition of ballots over the past few days, Andy Tobin has pulled into the lead in the CD1 race. Shawnna Bolick has surpassed Mary Hamway in the LD28 House race. Despite the Democrat Party establishment’s best effort to make her invisible, Sharon Thomas came in with 46 percent of the vote against David Garcia, in the Democrat Primary race for Superintendent of Public Instruction, while Diane Douglas won the Republican nomination for the office in a landslide defeat of John Huppenthal.
