Tucson City Council passes agreement to prevent SROs from asking about immigration status

The Tucson City Council unanimously passed an amended agreement to prevent Student Resource Officers (SROs) from asking students about their immigration status.

Schools must educate students regardless of heir legal status and now SROs cannot inquire as to a students legal status.

According to Tucson Police Chief Roberto Villasenor, President Obama’s executive action on immigration changed the requirements of Tucson Police officers.
