Scottsdale kid calls 911, hides from burglars in garage

On Wednesday February 18 at approximately 4:30 p.m, a homeowner was working on his car in the area of 8400 E Montecito Ave when he saw two male subjects exit the alley near his home. He watched them walk to a neighbor’s home and knock on the door and then leave west bound on Montecito.

He called the Scottsdale Police Department to report the suspicious activity.

Officers were in the area when a juvenile male called 911 reporting his home on Granite Reef and Montecito was being burglarized. The juvenile male hid in the garage when two suspects kicked in his front door and made entry into his home. Patrol officers and detectives were immediately on scene.

The two suspects were contacted in the backyard by officers and the first suspect, Daniel Navarro, age 25, fled on foot. The second suspect, Maher Odeh, age 28, was taken into custody in the backyard. Navarro was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit and a back yard search. It was later learned that a third suspect, Robert Hutto, age 30, was the driver of the suspect’s vehicle and he too was taken into custody near the scene.

Stolen property from the burglary was recovered and the suspects face burglary and drug charges.
