5 Flowing Wells High School students arrested for murder plot

On March 18, 2015 the Tucson Police Department responded to Flowing Wells High School after receiving information that several students were plotting to kill another student on campus. The information was provided to the department after a student spoke with administrative staff about the plan.

Detectives with the Tucson Police Department’s Special Investigation Division responded to continue the investigation. They conducted multiple interviews with students and collected evidence at the scene. When the initial investigation was completed they learned that five students were involved in a week-long plan to kill another student. The information they obtained was very detailed about how the incident was going to take place. The students had furthered that plan by having one of them bring a knife to the school. Administrative staff located that student and found a knife in his possession.

Detectives were able to locate and interview all of the students involved. It was determined that the incident was not a random act of violence. The students were targeting another student in their group that they were having problems with.

Detectives arrested and booked all five students into the Pima County Jail for Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder. Four of the five students are juveniles so their information is being withheld. The fifth student has been identified as 18-year-old Christopher Gibson.
