Arcadia-Biltmore Justice Of The Peace Resigns

Steve Sarkis, who has served as Arcadia-Biltmore Precinct Justice of the Peace since his election in 2008, has announced his retirement, effective July 31. Sarkis is relocating to Colorado.

The vacancy will be filled by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.

The district encompasses east Phoenix, extending into parts of South Scottsdale and Tempe. The precinct includes parts of four supervisorial districts.

The selection process is as follows:

The appointee must be, like Sarkis, a Democrat and live in the precinct. The appointee will serve out the unexpired term and seek out a new term in the 2016 primary and general elections. Applicants should send their letters of interest along with a resume to the Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, 301 West Jefferson, 10th Floor, Phoenix, AZ 85003. Applications will be accepted through Friday, July 24.

Designed to provide judicial service and economical justice to residents within their communities, there are 26 justice courts throughout Maricopa County. These courts handle civil suits, small claims, evictions, civil, and criminal traffic cases.
