Pima County Attempted Child Abduction Investigated

On September 11, 2015, at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Pima County Sheriff’s Department received a 9-1-1 call about an attempted child abduction at the intersection of North Albany Avenue and West Goshen Drive.

Detectives determined that a 10-year-old boy, who lives in close proximity to the intersection, was on his way home from the community pool. While on his scooter, he was approached by a white pickup truck. The driver and sole occupant of the truck rolled the window down and yelled at the boy to get into the truck with him. The boy became scared and raced off on his scooter. He was able to hide nearby.

The suspect briefly followed the boy, but then drove off westbound towards Thornydale Road. The boy described the truck as swerving all over the roadway. Eventually, the boy went home and told his sister about the incident. The sister then called 9-1-1.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man, approximately 30 to 40 years old. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt. The pickup truck was described as white in color with 2 doors. Anyone who observed the incident, made other suspicious observations in the area at the time of the incident or has any other information that may be helpful in the investigation is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
