crime

The Tucson Police Department is investigating an early Saturday morning collision that resulted in the death of a young adult male.

On September 26, 2015 just after 9:00 a.m., officers from Operations Division East responded to the area of East Tanque Verde Road and North Pantano Road for a single vehicle collision with serious injuries. Upon arrival, officers located a 1997 Honda Accord that had collided with a light pole.

Tucson Fire responded to assist, however the driver was pronounced deceased on scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The victim involved in yesterday’s fatal collision has been identified as 18-year-old Peter Farrell. Next of kin have been notified.

Traffic Detectives from the Tucson Police Department responded to the scene to continue the investigation. They were able to determine that the Honda Accord was traveling westbound on East Tanque Verde Road, approaching the exit for Pantano Road. The driver crossed the gore area to exit Tanque Verde and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck a light pole sideways on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

It does not appear that the driver was wearing a seatbelt. Excessive speed was not a factor in the collision and no obvious signs of impairment were detected.
