A records check on Valdez Audevez showed his status was “aggravated deported felon”
On October 21 at 6:25 p.m., a Pinal County Sheriff’s deputy was travelling east on I-8 near mile-post 163 and observed a black Honda sedan travelling at a high rate of speed eastbound. Before the deputy could catch the car, it exited northbound on Montgomery Road. The black Honda slowed to turn east on Highway 84 and the deputy got close enough to initiate a traffic stop. When the deputy turned on his emergency lights and siren, the car accelerated again to a high rate of speed, estimated by the deputy to be over 100 mph. The deputy deactivated his emergency lights after about 1 mile of pursuit on Highway 84.
Sheriff Paul Babeu said, “The deputies chose not to continue pursuing the vehicle because it was entering a congested area of Casa Grande. The high rate of speed would have posed too great a risk to the general public.”
Deputies responded to the area where the vehicle was last seen and located the black Honda abandoned on East 1st Street in Casa Grande. They tracked the driver to the Living Wellness Center on East 2nd Street. Deputies contacted the staff and they pointed out a man who came in a few minutes prior acting suspicious. Deputies contacted the man in the lobby and identified him as Alfredo Valdez Audevez, a 32-year-old Mexican national. He was the registered owner of the black Honda and had the keys in his pocket.
A records check on Valdez Audevez showed his status was “aggravated deported felon”. He told deputies that he was arrested in the past for human smuggling and deported. He would not provide any more information to deputies.
Valdez Audevez is being held at the PCSO Adult Detention Center on charges of Felony Flight from Law Enforcement.
