Vandals Shoot Mohave County TV Equipment

Mohave County’s Television District communication site in Dolan Springs, Arizona sustained an extensive amount of vandalism which left the area without over-the-air television service.

Vandals accessed the site by cutting through the fence with a blow torch, using bolt cutters on the locked building, tampered with electrical fuses, panels and the generator and proceeded to discharge multiple gun shots throughout the equipment and structure. Preliminary estimates of damage to the site are approximately $50,000.

This damage left the television district inoperable in the area. The channels affected by this outage include: K35BI-D rebroadcasting Channel 12 KPNX-Phoenix, K41BZ-D rebroadcasting Channel 15 KNXV-Phoenix and K43GU-D rebroadcasting Channel 5 KPHO-Phoenix.

Supervisor Jean Bishop expressed disappointment about the destruction of County property and encourages anyone with information about this incident to contact the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
