“I hope that Donald Trump does not bring his hateful message of division and intolerance back to Phoenix. He has a First Amendment right to spew vile rhetoric, but his brand of increasingly overt racism is in complete contrast to our values as a city,” said Stanton.

According to ABC15, “Cynthia Weaver with the City of Phoenix confirms the Phoenix Convention Center has been contacted by Trump staffers to show organizers available space for the Valley visit.”

Trump recently called for a ban on Muslim immigration to the U.S. According to the Daily Caller, Trump argued on Wednesday that his proposed ban on Muslim immigration is “not about religion. This is about safety.”

Trump’s comments have been criticized by officials on both sides of the aisle.
