crime

On January 22, 2016, just after 7:30 p.m., officers from Operations Division South and members from the Tucson Fire Department responded to a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and a truck in the area of E. Ajo Way and S. Kino Pkwy. Upon arrival, both vehicles were on fire. The Tucson Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire and provide medical treatment. The rider of the motorcycle was transported to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. However, shortly after arrival, the rider succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased. The occupants of the truck were not injured and remained on scene.

Detectives from the Traffic Investigations Unit responded to the scene to continue the investigation. They were able to determine that the rider of a 2002 BMW motorcycle was northbound on Kino approaching a green light at E. Ajo Way. The driver of a 2008 Chevy Silverado truck was southbound on Kino and made a left turn heading eastbound on Ajo Way in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the truck and both caught fire. The rider, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle.

Speed does not appear to be a factor in this collision. However, officers at the scene noticed signs and symptoms of intoxication on the driver of the truck. A DUI investigation was conducted and the driver was arrested. The driver has been identified as 30-year-old Jesus Yzabal. Mr. Yzabal was arrested for 2nd Degree Murder, Aggravated DUI, Endangerment and Criminal Damage. He was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.

The rider of the motorcycle has been identified as 52-year-old Norman Enfinger.
