Glendale Officer involved Shooting Turns Fatal

On Wednesday night March 30th, just before 8:00 pm Glendale Police Officers responded to multiple 911 calls of shots fired in the area of 6500 W. Solano Drive. Soon after it was learned that this was a shooting involving Phoenix Police Officers. The Glendale Police Department assisted throughout the night, conducting the criminal investigation.

The investigation has revealed that officers attempted to contact a suspect vehicle at 6500 W. Solano Drive. Those officers were immediately met with gunfire. Three Phoenix Officers engaged the suspect and fired their weapons. The suspect then fled southbound on foot. One victim was taken to a local hospital last night with a gunshot wound. The suspect was eventually taken into custody at 6525 W. Montebello Avenue. He was not injured and is being processed by Glendale detectives.

The suspect 30-year old Fernando Jaime of Glendale has been booked on charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault. The victim in Wednesday’s officer involved shooting, 25-year old Ruben Cossyleon of Glendale, died at a local hospital Friday. As a result, Fernando Jaime will also be charged with homicide.
