Yesterday afternoon the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in cooperation with Homeland Security, US Border Patrol, US Postal Inspectors and HIDTA Detectives served a search warrant at 1925 East Bethany Home Road in Phoenix and arrested Sen. John McCain’s fundraiser, Emily Pitha and her partner, Christopher Hustrulid.
In no time at all McCain meth memes started circulating. The unpopular senator is often the butt of the joke, but this time his misery is just too much fun for his many haters.
Here are the facts according to authorities:
During the search of the residence detectives located what appeared to be an illicit drug lab in a small work room in the back yard. The work room had been equipped with surveillance cameras, a ventilation system, glass ware, filters and various chemicals. Meth, ecstasy, marijuana and parcel packaging materials were also located inside the workroom. HIDTA detectives responded to the scene and verified that there was an active lab inside the workroom, which was determined to have been used to manufacture MDMA and hash oil.
A search of the residence yielded evidence of an extensive drug operation. Numerous types and quantities of drugs were located in the residence including; approximately ¼ pound of meth, several grams of heroin, approximately 50 milliliters of liquid MDMA, several hundred ecstasy pills, several grams of crystalized MDMA, marijuana, approximately 2 grams of cocaine, 10 hits of LSD, shatter, hash oil and approximately $7,000 in cash.
While conducting the search of the residence it was discovered that two children (5 and 9 years old) lived in the home. Pitha (06/15/1981) and Hustrulid (12/19/1979) were booked into 4th Avenue Jail for child endangerment, manufacturing of narcotic drugs, possession of dangerous and narcotic drugs, and transportation of dangerous drugs, possession of drug lab equipment and possession of marijuana. Both are being held on $20,000 cash only bonds.
