Tucson 3 Year Old Killed Riding Scooter In Rita Ranch Area

On May 25, 2016, just before 6:00 p.m., Tucson Police officers responded to South Castle Bay and East Banbridge Street for a report of a pedestrian collision involving 3-year-old Denver Greenberg. Tucson Fire was on scene and immediately transported the child to Northwest Emergency Center in Vail.

Shortly after arrival, the child passed away from his injuries.

Tucson Police Traffic Detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation. They were able to determine that a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling westbound on Castle Bay from Esmond Loop. As the driver began making a left turn on to Banbridge Street, the truck collided with the child who had just entered the unmarked crosswalk. The child was riding a push-style scooter eastbound on Castle Bay, in front of his father and 4-year-old brother.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.

No citations have been issued at this time. Detectives are continuing the investigation.
