Thorpe Awarded Arizona Community College Council Legislator Of The Year

Representative Bob Thorpe was awarded one of the legislators of the year from the Arizona Community College Coordinating Council (ACCCC) for his work to improve Arizona’s colleges and enhance student access to higher education.

The ACCCC recognized Thorpe for fighting “relentlessly to modify a formula from 1980 that hinders a college’s ability to work with business and industry leaders and discouraged colleges from investing in unique workforce programs such as avionics, welding, and computer sciences.”

Rep. Thorpe stated, “It is a great honor to receive this award and an even greater pleasure to know that our future students will have a better path forward in regards to their education. I want to thank the ACCCC for honoring me with this award and I will continue to fight for community colleges and Arizona.”
