Yuma Sector BP Agents Arrest 10, Seize Drugs

YUMA, Ariz. – Wellton Station Border Patrol agents seized more than $700,000 in narcotics and arrested 10 individuals during two recent incidents.

On July 10, agents stopped a male U.S. citizen and his wife, a Mexican national, at the Border Patrol checkpoint on the eastbound side of Interstate 8, east of Yuma.  After agents directed the driver to a secondary inspection lane, a follow-up search with a canine led to the discovery of 16 pounds of methamphetamine and 35 pounds of cocaine in the vehicle’s rocker panels. The drugs have a combined value exceeding $440,000.

On July 11, agents performing line watch duties tracked footprints found near Gila Bend and caught up with seven men and a juvenile with nine bundles of marijuana valued in excess of $260,000.  All subjects were identified as Mexican nationals in the U.S. illegally.
