Investigators Arrest Suspect, Seize Heroin, Meth In Prescott

On September 7, 2016, at approximately 11:00 a.m., detectives from Partner’s Against Narcotics Trafficking (PANT) assisted with a probationary search at a home in the 700 block of Flora Street, Prescott. The investigation resulted in the arrest of probationer and resident Marie Saiz, 28, for charges including Possess/Use of Dangerous Drugs, Possession/Use of Narcotic Drug, Possess/Use Marijuana and Possess/Use Drug Paraphernalia. She remains in-custody on a $7500 bond.

In the days prior to September 7th, PANT detectives developed information that Saiz was selling heroin from the Flora Street home. After confirming she was on active probation, detectives met with Yavapai County Probation personnel who authorized a joint search effort based on the investigation. On the morning of September 7th, Saiz arrived at the probation department to meet with her probation officer and admitted to recent use of methamphetamine. She was detained and transported to the Flora Street home where probation officers, assisted by PANT detectives, conducted a search.

Inside the home, a usable quantity of marijuana was found along with 2 marijuana pipes. In a detached shed on the property, 13 grams of the methamphetamine was seized from a backpack and 17 grams of heroin was seized from a smartphone box. The serial number on the box matched the smartphone number in possession of suspect Saiz.

During a follow-up interview, Saiz claimed she found the heroin and methamphetamine at her mom’s house in Prescott after her mom’s recent arrest by PANT detectives on similar charges, See AZDI story dated August 26 dated for more details. Saiz stated she was not sure what to do with the drugs so brought it to her home and stored it in the shed. She denied selling drugs.
